About Terry Jane Hansen
I have wanted to be a Massage Therapist since I was 17 years old. The summer before my senior year of high school I had gone to North Crow Reservoir with a bunch of friends. I jumped off of a 45-50 foot cliff but didn’t clear the rocks at the bottom, broke my tailbone, had a compress fractured vertebrae and bruised the holy beegeezus out of my lungs and internal organs. The cliff jumping accident happened in late July. I was enrolled in a P.E. 4 Life class, and when we went back to school after the summer break we had to run ropes, run sprints and lift weights. Everybody in the class was sore those first couple of weeks, especially me after the trauma I’d put my body through in jumping off the cliff.
My best friend and I would exchange massages, and that is when I realized my talent in life was in my hands. With massage I can take a person’s pains away. Massage certainly helped ease my pain!
After working as a heavy equipment operator for three years, then as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Mitchell Care Center for one year, followed by three years at the Goshen Care Center, I finally was financially able to go to school for Massage Therapy.
I attended Denver Career College for my first 720 hours of Massage training. After graduating with honors, while working part-time as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Bear Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Morrison, Colorado and performing massages on my personal clients, I attended the Colorado School of Healing Arts full-time, where I obtained my Associate of Occupational Studies in Massage with three different certifications: 300 hour-Neuromuscular Massage Therapy, 310 hour-Spa Arts and Sciences, 110 hour-Lymphatic Drainage Massage Therapy. I have one 100-hour class to complete for certification in Reflexology.
I’ve been a member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals since 2005. In November 2006, I obtained my National Certification for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, and as of February 2007, I am licensed to practice in the State of Nebraska as a Massage Therapist.
I am very excited now that I have all of this Massage Therapy training under my belt! Now instead of just helping to make the lives of my residents in the nursing homes better, I now have the ability to make a positive impact on the lives of everyone who comes in for a massage. As I pursue my goal of opening my own Spa, I will continue my private practice while educating and informing the public about the powerful benefits of Massage Therapy.
I can schedule appointments in the evenings and on weekends, as well as during the day. Please call today to schedule your appointment. 308-254-4979
